Sustainability

Responsibly chosen materials

At Santa Fé, sustainability, product safety and minimising our environmental impact are fundamental principles in every product we manufacture.

At Santa Fé, product safety is the cornerstone of everything we create. As an active participant in the WCMA ‘Best for Kids’ certification program, all of our window furnishings with the ‘Best for Kids’ label have been rigorously tested to ensure they meet these high safety standards.

All our products are free from lead and soluble heavy metals. They also meet or exceed strict International and European standards for off-gassing of harmful chemicals.

Materials that are recyclable or made from renewable resources are always our first choice and consideration is taken from the forest through to landfill – they won’t harm your family or the environment.

From the forest to your home

At Santa Fé, we have a range of wooden blinds and shutters that are FSC-certified which reflects our commitment to sustainability and responsible sourcing.

By choosing our FSC-certified products, you’re supporting forests that are managed to the highest environmental and social standards. Our dedication to using materials from responsibly managed forests ensures that every window treatment not only enhances your home with style and quality but also contributes to the health of our planet.

Why we don’t sell PVC shutters

Interior shutters, or plantation shutters, are a classic window treatment traditionally crafted from wood, offering timeless elegance and durability. With the rise of environmental concerns and advancements in composite materials, wood and composite shutters like Woodlore have become popular choices.

However, some manufacturers have turned to cheaper alternatives like Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) to lower costs. While PVC is widely used in products like pipes and flooring, we believe it’s not the best choice for interior shutters. Here’s why we prioritise quality materials over PVC for our shutters.

Thoroughly tested for peace of mind

Our window treatments have been rigorously tested to ensure they are free of heavy metals and harmful VOCs, making them a healthier and safer choice. VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) testing examines common chemicals like formaldehyde, benzene, and toluene, along with their concentration limits, in settings such as classrooms and offices.

Out of 33 compounds tested, none were detected in our Woodlore product, highlighting our commitment to safety and quality. All concentrations meet evaluation standards, confirming that our products are safe with minimal off-gassing. This means they won’t compromise your family’s health, even in sun-exposed windows.
