Yes, as of June 2026, the government will be implementing new safety regulations for blinds in New Zealand. They are looking at making it mandatory for new corded blinds sold in New Zealand to meet an internationally recognised safety standard, with suppliers given a year to comply. The rule applies to new products going forward; existing blinds already in homes aren’t covered.
